  • The minimum amount to open a Passbook Account is 2,000$00 (two thousand escudos);
  • Passbook Account transactions can be performed through:
    • Passbook - direct withdrawals/transactions at the Branch;
    • Digital Channels:
      • Debit card (ATM and Pre-paid Visa Plus);
      • Credit Card (Visa Classic and Visa Gold);
      • Caixanet;
      • Caixa Mobile.

Foreign Currency Checking Account

At my bank, I have the option to have a foreign currency account. This account enables me to preserve my euros and US dollars and to use them whenever I choose, either to travels or for my business.

It is very advantageous to have a foreign currency account, because it enables me to transfer money directly from and to an account abroad, without my deposited figures being affected by the exchange rate fluctuations.
Available Operations
  • Possibility to reserve Foreign Currency;
  • Access to the desired currency, at any time;
  • Transfers abroad, directly from the foreign currency account;
  • Constitution of Term Deposit accounts in Foreign Currency;
  • To receive the amount deposited in CVE, by means of a foreign currency transfer to the National Currency;
Opening and Operating Conditions
  • The Foreign Currency Checking Account is for the Non-resident Individual Client, holder of an account at Caixa;
  • The foreign currency accounts can be: in Euro (EUR) and US Dollar (USD);
  • Operating the Foreign Currency Checking Account can be done at the Branches and can operate in debit and credit;
  • These accounts can be reinforced with the following funds:
    • International Transfers,
    • Other means of payment abroad (checks, etc.),
    • Foreign currency.
  • Withdrawl can be made in foreign currency (without additional costs), or in Cabo Verdean Escudos (CVE), provided that the client requests a transfer from the Foreign Currency to the National Currency (paying for the costs of this operation).
