National Transfers

National Transfers can be:

  • Intra-bank i.e. made between Caixa accounts. They are free and immediately available in the recipient's account.
  • Inter-bank, which involves accounts from different Banks, and which are only effective after one (1) business day.

These operations are available:

International Transfers

International Transfers can be conducted to and from Cabo Verde.
From Cabo Verde to Abroad
You can request an international bank transfer through Caixanet and/or Caixa Mobile, with all the convenience and security. Or you may go to any Caixa agency, where you can fill out the relevant form.

For these transfers you need the following data:

  • Name of Beneficiary;
  • Full address;
  • Amount to be transferred;
  • The reason for the transaction (provide justification in case of payment for goods and services);
  • IBAN (Bank Identification Number);
  • Name and address of the receiving bank;
  • SWIFT Code.
From Abroad to Cabo Verde
If you are abroad and wish to make a transfer to Cabo Verde, you must follow the procedures of the bank on your location.

If you need to make a transfer to Cabo Verde, you need the following data from the beneficiary account:

  • Name of the holder;
  • IBAN: CV64 + the account’s NIB. The IBAN or Bank Identification Number, can be obtained through Caixanet and/or Caixa Mobile;
  • Amount to be transferred;
  • Caixa’s Swift Code: CXEC CV CV.

Western Union Transfers

It is a real-time money transfer service, to anywhere in the world, in a simple, fast, secure and affordable way.

This service is intended for universal users, whether or not they have a Caixa’s account.

The Western Union Service allows you to receive and send money, from and to any country.
At the Branches
The Service is available at all Caixa’s Branches.


To send money you need:

  • The full name of the beneficiary;
  • Country (state and city, in the case of the USA);
  • Amount to be transferred, in cash (or by direct withdrawal/check from the account);
  • A test question and answer (required for some destinations only).

After the transfer is executed, you will receive a code, a 10-digit number - MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number), which you must transmit to the recipient in order to withdraw the amount.

To receive the money you have to:

  • The full name of the sender;
  • The country the transfer comes from;
  • The amount sent and receivable;
  • The MTCN code (10-digit number), which is mandatory;
  • Identification Document: C.N.I. / B.I. or a valid Passport.
By Telephone
Caixa and Western Union have launched the product ABMT - Account Based Money Transfer - that allows clients to send and receive money from their bank accounts and made by telephone (without any need to go to the Branch).


To join the Western Union Service by telephone, the applicant must be a Caixa customer, and apply for membership at any of the branches, where he/she will be assigned a code for this purpose.


The transfer options available to the Western Union customer service user are as follows:

  • Account to Cash – allows you to send money by direct debit from your bank account at Caixa;
  • Cash to Account – allows you to receive the money by credit, directly into your Caixa account.

To request these transfers, the Client must contact Caixa's Western Union Service, by telephone (+238) 260 35 71, which operates from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm.
