Precautions with your card

Did you know that:
  • You must sign on the back of your card to ensure greater security;
  • The Code must be memorised and NEVER written to prevent misuse;
  • You must change the PIN code at the ATM when the card is first used;
  • You must not lend your card to relatives and friends. Even if the person is trustworthy, you don't know if they take all the safety precautions;
  • Your card should always be blocked, through the Caixa Mobile application (digital banking) and you should only unblock it when it is being used;
  • In case of loss, theft, robbery or misplacement, you should call +238 262 63 10 or 800 24 24;
  • You should not post a photo of your card on social media, due to excitement upon receiving your new card. If you choose to do so, you must be careful to hide the card number in the image;
  • When making payments in shops, hotels, restaurants, you should keep your card ALWAYS IN YOUR FIELD OF VISION. Do not allow the attendant to take your card to places where you may lose sight of it.
On the Internet
  • Avoid accessing websites from links. Directly enter the desired access address (URL) in the browser that starts with https:// ;
  • Shop online with your card, only on your personal device (computer, smartphone or tablet);
  • Always keep records of transactions made online that include the entity's information and the address of its site. Whenever possible, printscreen the operation data;
  • ALWAYS check the information about the site where you will make the purchase in order to avoid fraudulent sites.
On the Trips
  • When travelling abroad, it is very IMPORTANT to inform Caixa about the destination countries and the length of stay in each of them;
  • Do not leave your card in suitcases, hotel rooms, or other places easily accessible to other people. Take it with you whenever possible;
  • Keep all receipts paid with the card. In case of a complaint, they will serve as evidence;
  • It is normal for stores, or even operators, to contact the consumer. However, the consumer should never provide either the security code (CVV2) or the expiration date of his/her card by telephone
  • Take the time to read each item in your statement, and validate it with your purchase receipts. If you find any unrecognised expenses, contact Caixa immediately and block the card, via Caixa Mobile;

  • When using the card, observe your surroundings. If you notice anything suspicious, leave the premises without performing the operation, or ask for "distancing", just to show that you are attentive.
