Extension of the Credit Moratorium to September 30, 2021

As part of the publication of Decree-Law 4/2021, of January 15, which proceeds with the third amendment to Decree-Law 38/2020, of March 31 (previously amended by Decree-Laws 45/2020, of April 21, and 65/2020, of September 1), CAIXA informs its valued Customers of the new terms of the extension of the credit moratorium that has officially entered into force, as follows: 

1.     For Individual Clients

i. The deadline to join the moratorium is extended to January 31st of the current year;
ii.  An additional, automatic extension of the moratorium (capital and accrued interest) is granted for the period of January 31, 2021 to September 30, 2021;
 
2.     For entities in the most affected sectors by the impact of the pandemic and companies with losses of at least 60% turnover in November 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year:

i.
The deadline to join the moratorium will be January 31 of the current year;

ii. An additional and automatic extension of the moratorium (capital and accrued interest) is granted, for the period of January 31, 2021 to September 30, 2021;

iii. An automatic extension of the credit maturity is granted for an additional 12 months, in addition to the deferment of the term due to the moratorium;

iv. The extension of maturity referred to in the previous point ends, with immediate effect, when one of the following situations occurs:
a.     Non-performance Credit;
b.     Legal execution filed by a third party against the beneficiary entity for the extension of the credit maturity, seizure or any legal act of seizure of the beneficiary entity's assets.
 
3.     For other companies and beneficiary entities 

i.
If they join the moratorium before 12/31/2020:
  • An additional, automatic extension of the moratorium (capital and accrued interest) is granted for the period of January 31, 2021 to September 30, 2021;
ii. If they were not covered by the moratorium on 12/31/2020:
  • They will be able to join until January 31, 2021;
  • They will benefit from the suspension of capital and accrued interest until June 30, 2021;
  • As of July 1, 2021, they will only benefit from the capital moratorium and the moratorium on accrued interest and other charges will cease; as of this date, they must resume paying accrued interest and other charges.

The beneficiary entities may oppose the extension of the moratorium or the extension of the credit maturity, or opt to apply the moratorium for a shorter period than that established by law, by communicating this intention to Caixa at least 15 days prior to the date on which they intend to end the respective terms.
