2022-03-24
Warning
The number of frauds involving purchases with debit and credit cards has increased over the years and some Caixa customers have received phone calls from people identifying themselves as employees of the institution, requesting confidential information.

According to the information provided, customers are asked for information regarding the card number (made up of 16 digits) and the expiry date, which is on the front of the card, and the security code or CCV (last 3 digits), which is on the back.

These attempts are a type of fraud, identified as phishing, which uses these tricks to deceive its victims and gain access, for example, to bank details.

The information on debit and credit cards is personal and non-transferable and cannot be shared, and no employee of a financial institution can contact customers by telephone or message to request confidential data, especially passwords and codes.

Caixa has a space reserved on its website for security tips that should be considered when using cards, to promote and raise the awareness of its customers to the proper use of their debit and credit cards and to avoid fraud and card cloning.

Caixa customers also have options on Caixanet home banking and the Caixa Mobile app to block their cards for greater security in their use.
