Communication
Under the fourth amendment to Decree-Law No. 38/2020, of March 31, Decree-Law No. 48/2021 was published on June 16, establishing exceptional measures to protect household credits, companies, municipalities, private social solidarity institutions, non-profit associations and other social economy entities.

This amendment now includes, as beneficiary entities of the measures provided for in the aforementioned diploma – namely the moratorium – companies that contracted credit under the “Covid-19 Credit Lines”.

In this way, companies of any size, which contracted credits under the "Covid-19 Credit Lines", will benefit from a moratorium on capital and/or interest, provided that they meet the following requirements:

  • Carry out their economic activity in Cape Verde (regardless of the location of their headquarters);
  • Are not in default or default for more than 90 days and are not in a situation of insolvency, suspension or assignment of payments;
  • Have their situation regularized with Finance, Customs and Social Security.

Companies wishing to adhere to the moratorium must send Caixa a notice of adherence to the moratorium on capital and/or interest. The moratorium will be granted at any stage of the credit, provided that after the end of the grace period to which they were entitled under said credits.

This moratorium, as it falls within the scope of the aforementioned Decree-Law 38/2020, does not require contracting, and therefore no other formality is necessary in addition to the adhesion and the delivery of documents proving the verification of the adhesion requirements.
