Founded in 1928, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde is today an essential reference in the Cape Verdean financial system, thanks to the trust of its customers and the dedication and commitment of its employees.

 

Throughout its 93 years of existence, Caixa has positioned itself at the forefront in the implementation of technological solutions to provide a safe, flexible and agile service. 

 

Caixa Económica was created on May 18, 1928 under the name "Caixa Económica Postal", integrated in the then "Post and Telegraph" service under the tutelage of the Ministry of Telecommunications. 

 

On December 30, 1985, it was transformed into an autonomous financial institution, with the designation of Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. 

 

From 1993 to 2000, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde had substantial and visible growth and qualitative and quantitative development, especially at the national level.

 

This development, which is reflected in the growth seen in terms of deposits, loans granted, own funds, etc., was provided, among others, by the expansion of the range of products and services, the expansion of the branch network, the introduction of a new customer relationship style and modern and innovative IT solutions. 

 

In 2012, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde became the 1st Bank in Cape Verde with international certification of the Information Security Management System and the Quality Management System in accordance with the international standards ISO 27001: 2013 and ISO 9001: 2015, respectively.
