In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the national contingency plan approved by the Government, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde approved an internal contingency plan with the following objectives:

  • Guarantee the security and continuity  of all services to our clients;
  • Mitigate all possible health risks to all Employees, Clients, Partners and, obviously, to the Community in general;
  • Specify response strategies;
  • Define responsibilities and priorities;
  • Provide guidance and recommend measures to prevent and control the infection;
  • Provide conduct orientation on close contacts;
  • Disseminate information regarding the Pandemic.

The approved Plan includes several measures, namely:

  • Sanitary Prevention;
  • Cautions to be implemented in the Agencies, when loading the ATMs and when providing the means of access to the digital channels;
  • Travel restrictions and postponement of public events;
  • Quarantine protocol in situations of contagion and distribution of protection equipment;
  • Introduction of Remote Work whenever possible.

These preventive measures, which will be adapted in accordance with our continuous assessment, which are not deemed alarmist measures, but prudent and responsible, required of everyone currently.

We take this opportunity to highlight the Good Practices for the sector, and recommend their adoption:

COVID-19 Good Practices for the Banking Services:

  • Privilege the use of digital or telephone means to perform banking operations or to speak with your Manager;
  • Daily operations can be executed with all safety and comfort through the Homebanking service or the bank's App;
  • Visit the Branches only in case of absolute necessity, especially if you are part of a risk group (elderly, people with chronic diseases or weakened immune system);
  • Whenever it is not possible to use digital means to make transfers, pay for services or perform mobile phone top-ups, we recommend the use of ATM machines, thus minimizing personal contacts;
  • Avoid handling cash and give preference to card payments or internet banking;
  • Greater use of the digital resources and remote service contracting also implies an increase in security precautions;
  • Limiting the number of Clients at the Branches, to avoid the concentration of people, calls for everyone's understanding and collaboration.
