Making the dream of homeownership more attainable is now a reality: Caixa and Government signs partnership to promote access
2026-03-13
Through the signing of a strategic agreement with the Government — through the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning — the "Caixa de todos nós" embraced the new Housing Credit Incentive Program.
This initiative, introduced by the Government, aims to eliminate barriers to housing access and stimulate the residential real estate market, with a strong focus on young people and the Cape Verdean middle class.
Concrete Measures: What changes for the Customer?
With this agreement, access to finance is made significantly easier through three key components:
- Maximum Funding Amount: The reference value for financing was increased from 7,000 escudos to 10 million escudos;
- Interest Subsidies: Allocation of a subsidy directly on the interest rate of the loan, being up to 50% on the Subsidized Housing Credit and up to 55% on the Subsidized Youth Housing Credit.
- State Personal Guarantee for Youth Housing Loans: For customers up to 35 years old, the State intervenes with personal guarantees, eliminating the barrier of lack or insufficiency of self-financing by young people.
A Commitment to the Future!
During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Caixa, Dr. António Moreira, speaking on behalf of the banking sector, emphasized that the new regime presents a valuable opportunity to stimulate housing credit within the banking system, noting that the approved conditions are significantly more favorable than those of previous subsidized housing credit schemes.
The signing of this protocol reaffirms Caixa Económica's position as the trusted partner of Cape Verdeans, investing in the social well-being and economic growth of our nation.
Caixa, the bank that suits me.
