History

Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde (CECV) was founded on May 18th, 1928 under the name of Caixa Económica Postal, then integrated into the Postal Services under the supervision of the Ministry of Telecommunications. On December 30th, 1985 it became an autonomous financial institution acquiring the name of Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance.

 

From 1993 to 2000, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde, had a substantial growth and development, especially at a national level. This development, which is reflected in the growth in deposits, loans granted, own funds, etc., was provided, among others, by the widening of the range of products and services, the expansion of the branch network, the introduction of a new relationship management style and modern and innovative computer solutions.

 

In 2012, Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde became the 1st Bank in Cape Verde with international certification of the Information Security Management System and the Quality Management System in accordance with international standards ISO 27001: 2013 and ISO 9001: 2015, respectively.

 

MISSION: To provide a quality global financial service, contributing to the sustainable economic development of the country and promoting financial inclusion.

 

VISION: To be recognized as the essential bank in the Cabo Verdean financial system, sustained by technological and commercial innovation, prudent and careful risk management and that mostly identify with Cabo Verde.
